Jack Powell followed up his first shutout of the season with his second shutout of the season. He gave up just four hits and no walks, and two of those base-runners got doubled off, so Powell faced just 29.

Urban Shocker also found little difficulty getting through the Texas lineup in a complete game, though he gave up a couple. Baltimore put up five runs in the fourth on the strength of a Ken Williams walk, hits by Frank Robinson, Bobby Grich, and Cal Ripken, and a homer by Matt Wieters.

Texas built a 4-0 lead as they tried to find one win in the series, but Fergie Jenkins’ start fell apart in the fifth inning. Chris Hoiles, Brooks Robinson, and Ken Williams all doubled, and Eddie Murray added a triple in the frame.

Baltimore has won 14 of 15 against Expansion Division teams.
