Houston & Seattle Split

June 4: Houston 6, Seattle 4

Things fell apart for Felix Hernandez in the sixth inning when suddenly everything the Astros bats touched fell in for a hit. Reliever Michael Jackson fared no better and allowed three inherited runners to score.

Jamie Moyer baffled the Astros the next day. Hardly an Astro reached base in the first five innings before Craig Biggio connected for a homer. Then in the seventh, the Astros managed to load the bases against Moyer with two outs. Arthur Rhodes came in and whiffed Johnny Edwards to end the threat.

The Mariners found hits hard to come by as well, but worked J.R. Richard for five walks. Two of those walks came around to give the Mariners a 2-0 lead, and A-Rod launched a solo shot for the M’s third run.
