Cleveland Wins 2 of 3 In Minnesota, Every Game a Blowout

June 1: Minnesota 10, Cleveland 0

ERA leader Johan Santana returned to the mound after missing a couple of starts and stymied the Cleveland hitters for seven innings. He shrunk his ERA to under 2.00.

Not so for Cleveland’s Sam McDowell, Doug Jones, and Johnny Allen, who were besieged by Minnesota’s contact hitters. Tony Oliva and Kirby Puckett each collected three hits in the trouncing.
