Tim Hudson started this game for Oakland with the best ERA among qualified pitchers, but the Tigers didn’t find the going too tough against him. Hudson walked the first four Tiger batters in the fifth, Ty Cobb knocked two of them in with a single, a Mickey Cochrane error allowed another run, and a Sam Crawford single capped off the five run inning. Miguel Cabrera finally hit his first homer of the year in the eighth, another five run inning for Detroit.
