You know it’s going to be a tough series when you head into Fenway and get to face Pedro Martinez, Roger Clemens, and Cy Young, and Chicago was clearly not up for the challenge. Pedro and Roger were strong in the first two games, and Chicago starters Ed Walsh and Red Faber seemed to forget everything they knew about throwing a baseball as the Red Sox lineup piled up 21 runs in the first two games. Cy Young stumbled a bit in game three, but Chicago’s starter Johnny Rigney was worse, Ted Williams went 5-for-5, and the White Sox couldn’t get out of Boston fast enough after yielding 33 runs in three miserable losses.
