KC Takes 2 of 3 In Seattle

Game 1

Kansas City 5, Seattle 1

Bret Saberhagen seems to be righting the ship after an ugly start to the season. After giving up 10 earned runs in seven innings in his first two starts, he’s allowed just two earned in 15.2 innings in his next two. Lots of Royals chipped in on offense, but none more than Willie Wilson with three singles, one walk, and two stolen bases.

Arthur Rhodes relieves Freddy Garcia in the seventh with two outs and the bases drunk, and walks John Mayberry to force in the eventual winning run. Greg Holland keeps it interesting by allowing a run in the bottom of the ninth via an Ichiro double and John Olerud pinch-hit single, but promptly whiffs Alvin Davis to clinch the series.
